The 4th of July brings out bikes, trikes and tykes all over the country, lining up to be in the local bike parade. This year, the La Marina Estates neighborhood in East Long Beach joined in the tradition.
More than 100 residents came out to bike, skate, ride, slide, scoot, pedal and walk the route along 8 different streets. There were antique cars, lots of bikes, scooters, a unicycle, skateboards, parents walking to keep up, music, singing, streamers and sparkle.
The parade ended at the annual Hackett Avenue Block Party, which included a potluck, balloon toss and another, shorter bike parade in the afternoon.
Is this the type of neighborhood you’d like to call home? Did you know this Americana is alive and well in the many neighborhoods of Long Beach? Long Beach, it will surprise you.
